Alucard's Sword

CASTLEVANIA
Alucard

Alucard represented the dichotomy between good and evil. He was born a half-vampire — with Dracula as his father. While he has supernatural abilities, he also developed a compassion for humans after spending his childhood with his beloved mother. When his mother passed away, Alucard took up her mother’s keepsake — Alucard’s Sword. He swore upon her grave to fulfill her dying wish, which was to oppose Dracula’s evil deeds.

Mother’s family heirloom and Alucard’s favorite sword.

Alucard’s Sword granted Alucard the ability to teleport short distances, allowing him to catch an enemy unawares. It was effective against dark creatures due to its divine powers. Interestingly, Alucard did not wield the sword when he teamed up with Trevor Belmont to defeat Dracula in Castlevania. Although Dracula was evil, Alucard felt guilty that he killed his own father. As such, he chose to go into slumber, with Alucard’s Sword at his side.

Death steals Alucard’s Sword

When Castlevania reappeared, Alucard had to wake up to stop Dracula’s revival. This time, he used Alucard’s Sword in his battles. Unfortunately, Death soon stole it so as to reduce Alucard's powers. In the end, it did not stop Alucard from defeating Death, and reacquire his sword. Although Dracula did revive, Alucard was able to send him back into oblivion once again.

Oftentimes, Alucard had to defeat formidable bosses — such as Galamoth and Brauner — in order to acquire the sword.

It wasn't long before Alucard was tired of having to to stop his father repeatedly. Meanwhile, he discovered Soma Cruz — a man who was destined to be Dracula's reincarnation. Calling himself Genya Arikado, Alucard decided to help Soma fight against his destiny. Alucard also sought to unleash Soma's powers, so that he could take over the task of killing Dracula.
