At first, Sol took part in the Gear Project, which aimed to produce biomechanical weapons called ‘Gears’. In fact, Sol himself was a Prototype Gear. However, he left after he witnessed the dire consequences of such a project. Consequently, Sol went on to create OutRage — an 8-part device capable of destroying the Gears should the need arise. Fuuenken is one of those parts, while functioning as a standalone weapon at the same time.
It
is said that Fuuenken is inspired by a gas lighter and modified to
produce high-intensity flames. Indeed, the sword is less of a physical
weapon, since its main purpose is to deal fire damage to Sol’s enemies.
Nevertheless, Sol’s physical prowess is second to none, though he does
not conform to any particular fighting style.
Sol wields Fuuenken in a reverse grip. Such a grip holds many advantages in combat. First, it drastically alters Sol’s angles of attack, thereby confusing his enemies, while allowing him to be effective in close quarters. He can also use the rectangular blade to block and parry any incoming attacks.
With Fuuenken, Sol is able to unleash moves such as Volcanic Viper, which is a flaming uppercut. At the same time, fire damage is not limited to Fuuenken. Indeed, Sol is fully capable of augmenting his melee attacks with fire. One of his most powerful moves is Tyrant Rave — a move where Sol performs a flaming mega-punch.

As
Sol had feared, the Gears — led by Justice — went out of control. The
result was the Crusades — a bloody war between man and machine. At
first, Sol joined the Sacred Order of Holy Knights and fought against
the Gears. He also entrusted Fuuenken to the order. However, he soon
decided to go solo, and took the sword with him.
Sol played a big part in defeating Justice and ending the Crusades. However, the Gears still posed a threat to mankind. Meanwhile, Sol was in search of That Man. He not only created the Gears’ creator, but also holds the key to saving mankind from destruction. In the process, Sol wielded Fuuenken against many formidable opponents, including Ky Kiske — his arch-rival.
