Atlantean Sword

CONAN THE BARBARIAN
Conan tests out the Atlantean Sword

In times past, there was a race of proud warriors called the Cimmerians — descendants of the Atlanteans. They were renowned for their fighting prowess due to their expert use of steel. The philosophy was epitomized by Conan’s father,

You cannot trust things of the flesh, but steel in your hand you can trust.

However, the Cimmerians became the target of Thulsa Doom. He was an evil warlord who commanded thousands of followers. In the end, flesh was mightier than steel — while the Cimmerians had superior weapons, they were overwhelmed by Doom’s armies. Doom was merciless, slaughtering Conan’s tribe and parents.

Thulsa Doom

Doom spared Conan as a living testament to the warlord's conquest. The young boy spent his early years as a slave. However, due to all the physical work, Conan developed a powerful physique as a teenager. As such, he was sent to the pits to fight as a gladiator. After many battles, Conan grew into a mighty warrior, skilled in the sword. He became Conan the Barbarian.

His parents' death was still fresh on Conan's mind. As such, he sought to destroy Thulsa Doom after he was finally freed from slavery. Unfortunately, he soon found himself at the mercy of a pack of hungry wolves, and without a weapon. He was forced to hide in a tomb. As it turned out, it was an Atlantean King's resting place. Conan was surprised to find some of the burial items still intact. One of them was the Atlantean Sword, a mighty two-handed sword with runic inscriptions engraved on its blade. As a Cimmerian, Conan felt an affinity for the sword. It also fitted his mighty stature.

Conan’s faithful companions, Valeria and Subotai

Equipped with the Atlantean Sword, Conan went on many adventures. He also met his fateful companions, Valeria and Subotai. The trio were tasked with rescuing a princess from an occult cult. However, they soon discovered that Doom was behind everything. Conan rushed to kill Doom, but was instead captured and tortured. Doom then revealed that he was immortal and a servant of the Dark God.

Fortunately, Valeria and Subotai were able to rescue Conan. They also brought him back from the brink of death — at the cost of Valeria’s life. The stakes raised, Conan the Barbarian finally proved his mettle. He killed off Doom’s minions before chopping off the warlord’s head with a sword swing, thereby ending his immortality.
