Blazing Sword

VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE

Voltron pulls out the Blazing Sword

Contrary to its name, the Blazing Sword is not actually wreathed in flames. Instead, the sword gives off a bright glow right before Voltron destroys a Robeast. Voltron Force — consisting of five pilots — was tasked to assist Princess Allura of Arus, who had sent a distress call to the Galaxy Alliance. King Zarkon, the evil ruler of Planet Doom, was planning to invade Arus and enslave its inhabitants. Only Voltron, the giant robot piloted by Voltron Force, was powerful enough to defend Arus against King Zarkon's forces.

Besides King Zarkon, Voltron also had to contend with the witch Haggar. She had used her dark magic to create the monstrous Robeasts. Furthermore, she was able to break apart Voltron, thus reducing Voltron Force’s fighting prowess. King Zarkon then took this chance to capture the five pilots. Consequently, he conquered Arus with little resistance.

However, the five pilots were down but not out. Led by their leader Keith, they were able to escape and reunite with Princess Allura. Their bravery also broke Haggar’s spell. With Voltron’s return, a glimmer of hope shone on Arus once again. Indeed, Voltron was unstoppable after materializing the Blazing Sword between his hands, while shouting the battle-cry, “Form Blazing Sword!” Since Robeasts are created by both science and magic, the Blazing Sword has physical and magical attributes so as to deal with them. Indeed, the sword is the bane of any Robeast’s existence. Records have shown that the sword is 99% guaranteed to destroy a Robeast.

The fuller on its blade enables the Blazing Sword to be lighter without sacrificing its strength. It is unknown as to where the Blazing Sword is stored. Some believed Voltron keeps it in another dimension, ready to be summoned in times of danger.
