Tessa's Sword

QUEEN OF SWORDS
the discovery of Tessa’s Sword

Tessa Alvarado was a noblewoman born in Spanish California. When she was a teenager, her father sent her to Madrid to further her studies and learn the ways of a woman. Unfortunately, Tessa had other ideas — she wanted to live a life of action and adventure. As such, she took up fencing lessons without her father’s knowledge. However, while Tessa was rebellious, she loved her father greatly. Hence, she was devastated to learn about his sudden death.

Tessa rushed back home to settle affairs. To her horror, Colonel Luis Montoya had taken over, and was tyrannizing the people. Tessa suspected Montoya of murdering her father. That night, her father appeared in her dreams and confirmed her suspicions. He then tasked Tessa with killing Montoya, so he could finally rest in peace. To aid her, he told her the location of his hidden treasures. Among them was a rapier, a family heirloom which was to be Tessa’s Sword.

Tessa was determined to avenge her father’s death. She was a skilled swordswoman after years of training in Madrid. However, she could not expose her identity for fear of putting her friends in danger. It was Martha, her gypsy friend, who finally showed her the way — in the form of the 'Queen of Swords' tarot card. Hence, Tessa disguised herself as the Queen of Swords — a masked vigilante and a beacon of hope for the people.
She would use Tessa’s Sword to injure evildoers with swift thrusts and cuts.

perceptive, independent and impassive

The 'Queen of Swords' reflected Tessa’s character. She was forthright, and more than willing to speak her mind. She could be merciless when necessary so as to get what she wanted. Unlike her enemies who relied on brute strength, the Queen was astute, able to outwit her enemies by making use of any given situation.

Tessa unmasked during a duel

Although Montoya tried to kill the Queen, all his attempts ended in failure. Meanwhile, Tessa had the help of Dr. Robert Helm, who was both physically attracted to her and disgusted by her actions. Also, Captain Marcus Grisham sought to overthrow Montoya, even though he was his right-hand man. Fortunately for the Queen of Swords, Montoya couldn't shoot for nuts. As such, she was able to defeat him easily, and restore peace to her hometown.
