HEROES
Hiro Nakamura, embodying a hero’s spirit |
Hiro Nakamura lived an ordinary life. As such, it was much to his surprise when he suddenly found out he could time-travel and teleport. However, he was unable to properly control his powers. While looking for a solution, Hiro met Isaac Mendez — a mutant whose paintings prophesied the future.
In Isaac’s apartment, Hiro saw a painting that depicted him battling a dinosaur with a sword. It was the Kensei Sword, once wielded by Takezo Kensei, a samurai. At once, Hiro knew the sword was the key to help him control his powers. Thereafter, he traced it to the Museum of Natural History, with the help of his best friend, Ando Masahashi.
“Yatta!” |
Apparently, the Kensei Sword was too valuable to be kept at a museum, since Hiro and Ando found only a wooden replica there. Menawhile, the sword was kept safe in Daniel Linderman's vault. Of course, Hiro wasn't going to get the sword by asking nicely. As such, he relied on deception, and was able to acquire the Kensei Sword after infiltrating Linderman’s office. Perhaps the sword did work; or it was merely a psychological effect. Nevertheless Hiro was finally able to control his powers.
Unfortunately, Isaac was killed by Sylar — a psychopath who sought to kill mutants in order to absorb their abilities. Hiro faced off against Sylar to avenge Isaac’s death. However, Sylar defeated him, and shattered the Kensei Sword. Hiro escaped to fight another day. Thereafter, he went to his father, Kaito. Kaito not only repaired the Kensei Sword, but also taught him swordsmanship. Stronger than before, Hiro fought — and almost killed — Sylar. However, Sylar sent Hiro back in time right at that moment.
Kensei Sword |
Although Hiro gain much power with the Kensei Sword, as the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility. Indeed, he overused his powers, and had to face the consequences of his actions. Nonetheless, Hiro became a better person after the setbacks. In the end, he could control his powers — even without the Kensei Sword. He also realized that the value of his powers lay not in attempting to correct his past mistakes, but protecting his loved ones.
